National Safety and Quality Health Service Standards Committees
Current vacancies
We are currently looking six parents and carers to join three of the National Safety and Quality Health Service (NSQHS) Standards Committees. There are two vacancies for each of the committees listed below (total of six vacancies).
What are the NSQHS Standards?
The National Safety and Quality Health Service (NSQHS) Standards are a series of eight national standards that all public health services across Australia must comply with. The NSQHS Standards aim to protect patients and clients, their carers and their families from harm and also to improve the healthcare provided by the service.
What are the NSQHS Standards Committees?
We have committees to oversee the eight NSQHS Standards. Each committee consists of staff from across the Child and Adolescent Health Service as well as two consumers. The role of the committees is to:
- Look at the policies required to ensure staff are maintaining safe practice
- Review reports to ensure safe delivery of health care at the Child and Adolescent Health Service
- Identify any areas of risk that may impact how we look after our patients/clients, carers and families
- Monitor improvements that increase safety of consumers
What is the role of each committee?
Standard 2: Partnering with Children and Families Committee
To oversee processes to involve consumers in:
- Decisions as partners in their care
- How we develop and improve of our services

Standard 3: Infection Prevention and Control Governance Committee
To oversee processes that prevent infections and, if they occur, to manage them effectively.

Standard 6: Communicating for Safety Committee
To monitor how staff communicate with:
- Each other to make sure that our consumers are kept safe and receive the best care possible.
- Consumers and include them in their care.
