Youth Advisory Council

The Youth Advisory Council is a passionate group of up young people who play an important role in making our service be youth-focused, by:
- Giving advice from a young person’s perspective.
- Helping us to consider the needs of young people when delivering services.
- Reviewing information we provide to the public.
- Providing feedback on how we handle complaints from consumers.
- Gathering feedback from other young people.
Member qualities
You must:
- be aged between 12-21 years.
- currently live in WA.
- have used Perth Children Services, Mental Health (CAMHS) or Community Health (public school health nurse, Child Development Service).
You would be a great addition to the Youth Advisory Council if you:
- want to improve health services for children and young people in WA.
- have confidence to speak up and share your thoughts and ideas.
- are motivated and willing to be part of extra activities outside of the meetings.
- identify as Aboriginal and/or Torres Strait Islander, culturally and/or linguistically diverse (including arrival as a refugee), LGBTQIA+ or have a disability.
- have connections with other young people (e.g. through community groups, schools, clubs).
The details
- Meetings are currently held online on the 2nd Thursday of each month from 4.30pm – 6.00pm. We hope to have a face-to-face option again soon!
- We ask members to commit to involvement for at least 2 years.
The benefits
- Meet other young people and develop skills like working in groups and representing the needs of your peers.
- $35 per hour is provided to cover out of pocket expenses.
- Training and mentoring offered.
