A Child and Adolescent Health Service (CAHS) clinician who has dedicated her career to helping young people recover from eating disorders has been recognised as a finalist in the 2027 Australian of the Year Awards for Western Australia.
Senior Clinical Psychologist Pheobe Ho has been named a finalist in the prestigious awards, which celebrate Australians making a significant impact in areas including health and medicine, mentoring, community support, innovation and science.
Pheobe is a specialist eating disorders clinician whose personal journey of recovery from an eating disorder as a teenager inspired her professional path. Motivated to help others facing similar challenges, she studied psychology with a focus on young people and eating disorders and now works with some of Western Australia’s most vulnerable children and adolescents through CAHS.
Drawing on both her professional expertise and lived experience, Pheobe supports young people and their families through complex physical and mental health challenges. Her experience continues to inform her clinical practice and research, including exploring how lived experience can contribute to a patient’s recovery process.
Beyond her clinical role, Pheobe is a tireless advocate for eating disorder awareness and mental health. She is a mentor, public speaker and national policy adviser, contributing to discussions and initiatives aimed at improving outcomes for people living with eating disorders and other mental health conditions.
Her willingness to share her personal story and use it to support others has earned her recognition as a compassionate and dedicated leader in the mental health sector.
Pheobe is one of 16 Western Australians selected as finalists in the 2027 Australian of the Year Awards, with four people recognised in each of the Australian of the Year, Senior Australian of the Year, Young Australian of the Year and Australia’s Local Hero categories.
The 2027 Australian of the Year Award recipients for Western Australia will be announced in Perth on Friday, 30 October 2026.
State recipients will then progress as finalists for the national Australian of the Year Awards, which will be announced in Canberra on 25 January 2027.
