Attention, regulation and concentration

Most children find it hard to pay attention, manage big feelings or control impulsive behaviour some of the time.

For example, they may be easily distracted if they’re in a busy place or they may have difficulty with big feelings when they’re hungry, tired or things don't go their way.

Being able to pay attention and control impulsive behaviour are skills that children learn as they grow and their brain develops.

Your child will need practise and lots of help from you to develop these skills.

These webpages and online materials have been developed to support families of children who experience difficulties with attention, regulation, and concentration. This includes children diagnosed with attention deficit hyperactivity disorder (ADHD).
